NIGHT SHIFT
EXPERIMENT 04 · REAL-TIME FICTION · POINT HOLLIS RELAY
You hold the 23:00–07:00 radio watch at a decommissioned coastal relay station. Three channels, a generator with opinions, a pot of coffee, and the previous keeper’s logbook. Transmissions arrive when they arrive.
The contract, plainly:
- One shift is eight fictional hours — about 25 minutes of your time.
- The night continues while this tab is closed. Leave, and the station logs what you missed. Some things only resolve if you’re at the desk. One thing only happens if you’re not.
- The transmitter’s capacitor bank is good for about a dozen sends. Every reply you spend on chatter is one you won’t have when it matters.
- An honest ×4 log-summary mode exists from the start. Waiting is a choice here, not a hostage situation.
